Halogen Lighting Ban
Yes you can still use Halogens
As part of a European Union directive, Halogen light bulbs were banned from the 1st September 2018 after classification as an inefficient light source.
This is a ban on the importation and production of Halogen lighting, however, you can still purchase old or existing stocks of Halogen lighting where still available.
Most retailers, including Powersaver, now stock the LED equivalents. They are a viable, cost effective alternative to old halogen lighting. As well as having a far longer life span, they also use far less power than old halogens, making them greater value for money.
For clarification, the ban affects only the import and manufacturing of halogens. You can still own and utilise halogens. You can still purchase existing stock of Halogens as long as they are available.
